In 2001, Compaq introduced the Smart Credit Card Internet Keyboard in an attempt to kick-start smart-card online shopping. The keyboard came with an integrated smart card reader made by Gemplus, which allowed smart cards to be used for online services.Visa created a Smart Visa card for online shopping, and the following year another company created the Netissimo service for log-ins to websites, for use with certain compatible Compaq Presario PC models (a similar service is provided by Power Logon, Episode 126).
