Mad TV
Anthony O'Mealy asks Dick if he is connected at all to Mad TV. Dick explains that Mad TV is essentially a licensing deal for the use of the name Mad. The writers of Mad are not involved with the TV programmes. Dick also tells how Bill Gaines responded when he was approached, when he was still alive, about doing a Mad TV channel. He wanted to have a veto on sponsors, such as bathroom products. If they were approached to do a DGW TV show, Leo would insist on having only bathroom products, such as Charmin, Scrubbing Bubbles, and he might even allow Perrier, but not of the sparkling kind.
