You Can't Have It MondayAnother entry in the Modern Marvels Invent Now Challenge 2006, the Illuminated NutDriver (or Laser Driver Tools) did not win the Challenge, but now you can have it. Invented by Kristin Hrabar, the screwdriver turns on a laser pointer with a click. Another click brings on the light instead, and a third click activates both the laser and the light. Ideal for working in dark conditions.
The set comes with 9 interchangeable metal shafts and 1 illuminated handle. The laser pointer can shine through the metal shaft on to the spot your direct it at. The LED light (or lamp) shines through and around the lamp module. The illuminated handle can be used independently as well on its own as a flashlight or lamp.
Off-Beat Gadgets
Dick explains that the focus of being the Giz Wiz is to find off-beat gadgets. When he did a show on CNBC, he talked about what he thought were silly or stupid gadgets, but there was always someone who wanted one of them.
Ready New York?
The New York City Office of Emergency Management decided to give busy New Yorkers a "quick" link to their emergency website http://www.ci.nyc.ny.us/html/oem/html/readynewyork/home.html. They have now shortened the url even more! It's http://www.nyc.gov/html/oem/html/home/home.shtml. Just a few quick keystrokes away.
